In 1998 during the Europeans at St. Petersburg an unknown red haired Italian surprised with the 4th rank at qualification among all of the well known ex USSR and Roumanian gymnasts. Then she qualified for apparatus final and twice was 6th. Impressing not only the results but as well her style: good execution and technical high standard.

After this she was injured for a long time and made public her retreat. That she revoke before the world championships in China.

I almost couldn’t recognize her because of her short blonde hair. Right before the world championships she had won the dual meet Italy-Spain and showed that she was back. The Italian team qualified for the Olympics and Martina performed best on floor. She got an  9,637 and very sharp missed the final.

In 2000 she competed at the pre Olympics in Sydney, but only was 22nd because of falling at two apparatus. At the  European Championships she qualified for the final in vault and reached rank 7. At Italian Nationals this year she won the bronzemedal in the AllAround.

She retired after the olympics 2000 in Sydney.
